There is nothing more important to me than the experiences and healing journeys of my patients. I feel honored to serve a dynamic group of individuals in the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond. Thank you for making my work so fulfilling.
While I would rather not go into the medical conditions for which I sought help from Dr. Grieder, suffice it to say the world of ‘traditional medicine’ had given me many “maybe’s” but no real help, effective relief, or truly in-depth attempts at diagnosis. Whatever I was experiencing seemed to lie outside the usual 15 min doctor’s visit algorithm, so what I experienced before seeing Dr. Grieder was dismissiveness, impossible red tape, and condescension from the system that was supposed to be there to help me get better. I still believe without Dr. Grieder’s truly compassionate, science-based but practice- informed, intelligent care (he reads everything and is detailed), I may not have bounced back as well and thoroughly. He is globally current in his field, wholistic and investigative in approach, and really simply curious about how things are working. My care plan involved a real commitment on my part in terms of treatments and experimentation, but I always felt I was part of a decision: deeply respected and ‘believed’ as a patient; something our current model of traditional health care could use a dose of. This guy is in it for all the right reasons, and I am grateful he exists for all the many other patients who may benefit from his committed practice.
As I am writing this review in Dec 2020, I am 16 months in remission (if that’s what you call it with Lyme treatment) and if you would have told me this would happen two years ago, I would have never believed it. I was diagnosed in 2010 with Lyme disease shortly after my son (who was 6 at the time) was diagnosed with Lyme and two coinfections. After working with several Lyme doctors, we landed at Pacific Frontier Medical Group where we saw several practitioners, including Dr. Grieder. I have been under Dr. Grieder’s sole care for chronic illness since 2014 when he left PMFG to start his own practice in San Francisco.
I owe Dr. Grieder and his entire staff my gratitude and deep appreciation for tirelessly listening to and looking for answers to my illness. For a couple of years, Dr. Grieder kept my infections suppressed with IV ceftriaxone but it never cleared completely. I was physically better but my fatigue, muscle aches, and flu-like symptoms were just below the surface and as soon as we let up on the IVs, they would reappear. Any exercise would put me down for days. I continued to work (even with severe brain fog) and would then crash on the weekends. Then at one office visit, Dr. Grieder suggested I consider disulfiram, which at that time was pretty new in the treatment of Lyme disease. Let me tell you that Disulfiram changed my life! However, during the short time I was on that treatment, I thought I was dying (literally). The herx reactions were incredibly intense but Dr. Grieder was there with me every step of the way, encouraging me to keep going, telling me that it was a delicate dance to push forward without pushing too much. Although I wasn’t able to stay on disulfiram as long as intended, I have been symptom-free since Aug. 2019. After 9+ years of treatment ranging from herbal remedies, abx (oral and IV), mold detox, pk protocol, vitamin C IVs, and countless other treatment programs that I can’t remember anymore, I feel healthy again. Thanks to Dr. Grieder, Sarah and Jim (two amazing nurses), I am starting to believe that maybe, just maybe my Lyme will stay in remission for a while longer.
I couldn’t imagine a better guide, advisor, expert, and resource than Dr. Grieder. I have struggled with Lyme disease for years, and my journey was difficult after my initial excellent doctor retired and others were uninformed or skeptical. Once I began working with Dr. Grieder, however, both my health and outlook improved. I have for the most part been symptom-free once I had Dr. Grieder on my side, and when the Lyme disease has flared, Dr. Grieder has ensured we always find a strategy to bring it back under control.
What I appreciate most about Dr. Grieder is two-fold: He is deeply knowledgeable, and he is fully informative. He stays current in his field and aware of new developments, so I’m always confident that as long as there is a treatment out there, he will know of it and understand well its level of effectiveness. Perhaps what is most helpful of all is that he not only knows his stuff, he is extremely clear in explaining whatever I need to know. He not only honors my concerns with answers in full depth, he actively encourages my questions. Despite his busy practice, he takes his time with me and knows me as an individual. What a luxury it is not to be rushed with a doctor!
I’ve seen that all people are valued within his office. Dr. Grieder treats his staff with thoughtful respect, and in turn they are kind and responsive to patients. They are a team dedicated to the health of all they serve.
I came to Dr. Grieder ill and desperate. I was close to despair because my disease had reemerged with a vengeance after being dormant, for the most part, for years. He quickly got me back to good health and gave me the chance to be optimistic once again about my future. I know he is my advocate and is always there on my side.
Dr Greider is a creative healer who does not give up on his patients. He helped us understand complex chronic health issues as both individuals and a family in a way that allowed us to make the best treatment decisions we could. He was always positive and supportive of any options we suggested. His staff is well informed, caring and kind. We miss them!
My name is Annalisa Walker. I am 52 years old and live in Reno, NV. In 2011 I got very sick with multiple symptoms that landed me in and out of the hospital. While in the hospital I had every scan, test, and lab work ran that the doctors could think of. There were no answers given other than “you are a zebra amongst horses and we can’t helps zebras”. I then went on to see a neurologist, rheumatologist, endocrinologist, and again ended up with no answers other than “you need to eat more protein”.
My symptoms continued to get worse to the point of forgetting my children’s names, forgetting words, and needing help to walk. I suffered through 72 hour panic attacks and every ounce of my body felt like it was on the verge of death. It was only through a miracle that I talked to someone – who knew someone –who knew someone – that had Lyme Disease. This person had every symptom I did (my symptoms included almost every single one that indicated Lyme Disease, Bartonella, and Babesia).
I feel so fortunate that this person referred me to California to seek out help to my mystery. Dr. Mischa Grieder came into my life in 2012 and I credit him with saving my life. I met with him for an appointment. At this appointment he gave me the opportunity to explain what had been happening to me the past seven months and actually didn’t think I was crazy. He ordered lab work and worked with me to begin the journey of healing.
From that first day back in 2012 to present time, he continues to help me with my health. In 2011 I would have said my health was a 1 on a scale of 1-100. Today I would say my health is 98 on a scale of 1-100. Dr. Grieder has been a light during my darkest times. I give credit to Dr. Grieder for helping me achieve good health again. I can’t explain my gratefulness I have for him.
Dr. Grieder takes the time every time I have an appointment to continue to keep m3 healthy. He has been the only doctor I have seen that is able to figure out what treatment I need in order to continue to overcome Lyme Disease and all of the issues that come along with this diagnosis.
I would fly to the other side of the world to continue seeing Dr. Grieder. I am so thankful for Dr. Grieder and his office staff. I recommend him to anyone who is struggling to find answers to their health questions. He saved my life!
Dr. Grieder is a very special practitioner! In addition to his incredible knowledge and detective-like determination to find the root cause of your health challenges, he is kind, compassionate, and sees his patients as people rather than illnesses. Over the course of the year that we worked together, it was evident that he truly cared for me and was invested in my recovery. Not only did Dr. Grieder support me in my recovery from Lyme disease, but he uncovered mold poisoning and heavy metal toxicity, which were preventing me from making a full recovery. Together, we approached healing from all angles to ensure nothing was missed and I am now healthy and happily pregnant with my first child – something I never imagined was possible. I feel so lucky to have finally found him in my search for healing!
